I finally got the replica painting of the house my Grandma grew up in. I have memories of playing with the dolls (that I now have :) in the main stairwell going upstairs, playing with kittens in the garage, sledding on the large hilly lawn with my brothers, and sitting on my favorite sunporch that's shown in this painting. My Dad, brother, and I visited while my Aunt Marcella and Uncle Albert lived there.

Core Values

Core Values would be like describing Love. Everything in life leads back to this, does it not?

Only #1 is in order by priority:

#1: Growth - in God. A relationship with Him isn't something we attain in an instant. As humans, I believe this is an evolving process and a different journey for each one of us.

#2: Honesty. In everything we do and in all our relationships. Does this include the little white lie to save someone from getting hurt about their new haircut, clothing, etc.? I would like to think we use our inner compass to decipher what is right.

#3: No Facade. Be true to yourself and be yourself. What will get accomplished in this lifetime if we all try to be something we really aren't. Everyone sees through it so why do it?

#4: Be Vulnerable. No that's not a misprint. I've struggled with this in my lifetime and it's been a long road to reach some improvement. It feels more comfortable for me to stay guarded. After all, that's less chance of pain and judgement, so why would we want to be vulnerable to that! Because it's so very crucial for growth.

#5: Remain out of your comfort zone. Again - growth.

#6: Experience. Life! Try new things, thoughts, and adventures! Life is short!

#7: Fail. Don't be afraid of it - this also teaches the next generation to be afraid. There is so much wisdom to be gained from failure.

#8: Set goals. Goals give something to strive for and make it harder to fall into complacency.

#9: Respect for others and yourself. "Do unto others as you would have done unto you."

#10: Good communication. This is one value I admire and work towards. It impacts all relationships, first and foremost with God and our loved ones.

This website offers great dimensions of birdhouses for different species of birds! This could help size the piping we choose and let us know how far down in each tube to install the platform.

The PVC material may not work due to too much heat gain... unless we cut adequate venting where the wood slots cover the piping.

This website also says paint (especially dark) heats up the birdies too much. Maybe light brown and "special" heat resistance birdhouse paint (if that exists) would work...
